Our Story
Boundless Grace Church was planted under the leadership of Pastor Ted Montoya in January of 2009. After serving on the pastoral staff of Valley Bible Church in Hercules for over 18 years, Ted and a handful of his friends simultaneously began to sense God calling them out of their comfort zone to plant a new Church. In this context, our little band of believers began to meet in one another’s homes for worship and biblical exhortation. Our first meetings were filled with excitement and our people began to experience the joys and challenges of starting a church.
In April of 09 as our faith and the Church began to grow we took our second step of faith and rented our first building in the city of Vallejo at Jesse Bethel High School. Although the facility was less than ideal, the Spirit was present and people continued to join us. It was at Jesse Bethel that we began to experience growth apart from our old Church connections and Boundless Grace began to morph into its own unique place.
While we had a great time at Jesse Bethel, it was not an ideal place to hold worship gatherings. The building was very cold, the seating was very tight, and our children’s ministry had to meet in the lobby on the floor (we had no rooms available to us).
In August of 2009, Pastor Ted moved his family into a community on the outskirts of Vallejo, known as Hiddenbrooke. And with this move, he and the leadership Boundless Grace began to recognize the potential for a Church in this community. Hiddenbrooke seemed to be fertile ground for a Church given the fact that it was without any witness for Christ and had never had a Church in its boundaries. Thus Boundless Grace decided to make a move in January of 2010 and rent facilities from the Golf Club.
As of April 2016 it was clear that God was closing the door on our Hiddenbrooke location as management had decided to use the building for other purposes. We began a campaign to fund a move to a new location, we didn’t know where that location was or what it would look like, but as a church we prayed. God provided for all of our needs both tangibly and financially and lead Boundless Grace Church to Fairfield (Cordelia) to a building we could call our own. A building of our own meant no set up and breakdown each and every week, a place to hold week night events and special events at our leisure. We are eager to reach this new community and welcome all into our new home. Join us this Sunday at 10:30 am
